Schneider Electric went into this earnings day priced as a premium growth stock, trading on a P/E of 34.3x and sitting near €289.6 after a steady three month run. For many investors, the thesis has been simple: pay up for a global power and automation leader with strong earnings momentum and expanding margins.
Today’s H1 2026 release puts that margin story at the center. Adjusted EBITA reached €4.1b with a 19.3% margin, and the company lifted full year organic revenue guidance to 10% to 13%. The question now is whether that performance still justifies a valuation above peers.

Bulls argue Schneider Electric can shift from hardware to higher margin software and services while riding electrification and AI driven demand. H1 results give that story some hard proof. Digital offers reached 62% of group sales, which supports the claim that recurring and software linked revenue are taking a larger share of the mix. Adjusted EBITA margin reached 19.3% with a 120 bps organic uplift and free cash flow hit €1.6b in H1. That fits the idea that digital mix and scale benefits can lift profitability rather than just revenue. Energy Management organic growth of 18% and Industrial Automation organic growth of 11% show that the EcoStruxure, AVEVA and EcoCare led offer is gaining traction in both power and automation. The upgraded guidance for 10% to 13% organic revenue growth and 70 to 100 bps margin improvement also matches the bulls’ margin expansion roadmap.
The bear story centers on margin pressure, uneven Industrial Automation, AVEVA SaaS transition risk and integration of new deals like Cognite. H1 shows some of those risks contained but not removed. Gross margin only improved 10 bps to 42.5% even with strong pricing and about €100m of tariff refunds, which suggests product and regional mix still matter. Management expects pricing and productivity to offset raw materials and tariffs, so any slip here could quickly pressure margins. Industrial Automation is back to 11% organic growth and process turned positive, which challenges fears of a prolonged slump, yet management still flags macro and geopolitical uncertainty. AVEVA’s SaaS shift and heavier R&D and data center spend sit behind restructuring charges that are set to peak in 2026. The Cognite and AiDASH deals raise execution and integration questions even as they support Schneider Electric’s software push.
With Schneider Electric increasing its focus on software, taking restructuring charges and funding recent deals, liquidity, interest cover and cash conversion become critical to assess under stress.
