Braking systems are the core of aircraft take-off and landing safety. In the past, the production and sale of high-performance brake discs was monopolized by overseas companies for a long time. Today, with breakthroughs in new domestic materials and technology, China's civil aviation braking field is steadily entering a new stage of localization and autonomy. Compared with metal brake materials, carbon materials are lightweight, resistant to high temperatures, and have an irreplaceable advantage. Currently, all mainstream international airliners use carbon brake materials on a large scale. However, for a long time, carbon brakes for civil aviation were expensive consumables, and the unit price for a complete set of spare parts was high, and they were called “black gold” in the industry. Relying on domestic materials industry research, China has independently developed carbon ceramic brake materials on the basis of traditional carbon brakes. They are resistant to moisture, high temperature, and have more stable braking in the full temperature range, and can overtake corners with key braking materials technology. Industry insiders pointed out that the application boundaries of domestic civilian high-performance brake materials continue to expand and are being fully extended to the emerging aviation sector. The entire industrial chain, from research on high-performance carbon-based composite brake materials, brake disc preparation, to the application of anti-slip electronically controlled braking systems, has achieved localized mass production.
