The Zhitong Finance App learned that on Friday, Danish pharmaceutical giant Novo Nordisk (NVO.US) opened and plummeted. As of press release, the decline was nearly 10%. According to the news, the company announced that its much-publicized new cardiac drug ziltivekimab failed to reach a major end in a large-scale late-stage clinical trial, and that the drug failed to significantly reduce the incidence of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) compared to placebo. The failure of this critical test is certainly another blow to the Danish pharmaceutical company. The company is making every effort to regain investors' confidence in its R&D pipeline and execution capabilities, particularly in the challenging US market.

Novo Nordisk said in a statement that although the experimental drug ziltivekimab showed certain biological effects, it did not translate into a statistically significant reduction in major adverse cardiovascular events. MACE usually includes major cardiovascular events such as cardiovascular death, nonfatal myocardial infarction, and nonfatal stroke.
