Macau Statistics and Census Service: The transaction volume of the restaurant industry fell slightly by 0.2% year on year in June, and the transaction volume of the retail industry increased by 7.3%

The Zhitong Finance App learned that according to data from the Macau Statistics and Census Bureau, the electronic payment transaction volume (hereinafter referred to as transaction amount) in the restaurant industry fell slightly by 0.2% year on year in June 2026, while the retail industry's transaction volume increased by 7.3%. In the first half of the year, the transaction volume of the two industries increased by 1.7% and 15.6%, respectively.

Changes in transaction volume in the catering industry

In June 2026, the transaction volume of the restaurant industry fell slightly by 0.2% year on year to MOP 1.06 billion. Among them, the transaction volume of Chinese tea restaurants and porridge and noodle restaurants increased by 6.1%, while that of Chinese restaurants fell 7.8%. In the first half of the year, the transaction volume of the catering industry increased 1.7% year over year to MOP 6.92 billion.

Changes in retail trade volume

In June 2026, retail sales increased 7.3% year-on-year to MOP 4.08 billion. Among them, watch and jewellery (+40.8%) and cosmetics and hygiene products (+32.9%) saw significant increases. In the first half of the year, retail trade volume increased 15.6% year over year to MOP 29.45 billion.
