Fiverr International came into this earnings season already on the back foot, with the stock down about 24% over the past three months and little relief today as the share price slipped a further 0.3% to close at US$9.18. The market reaction looks muted next to the headline reality of this quarter. Revenue fell to US$97.8m while net income dropped to US$4.5m, highlighting a clear profit squeeze as the marketplace absorbs weaker traffic and a tough reset in lower value, AI exposed projects.

Fiverr bullish thesis hit by weaker growth mix

Bulls argued Fiverr was moving cleanly from growth into stronger profitability and cash generation, led by broad based revenue growth, healthy buyer engagement and operating leverage. Q2 2026 cuts across that story. Revenue declined 10% year on year to US$97.8m and marketplace revenue fell 15.5%, while active buyers dropped 22% to 2.7m. Spend per buyer of US$368, up 15.6%, shows existing customers are still deepening usage, which partly supports the recurring demand argument. Profitability is holding but no longer expanding. Adjusted EBITDA margin of 17.9% compressed by 1.8 percentage points and management now guides full year revenue to be down mid teens with lower free cash flow than the prior two years. Services revenue is still positive year on year, yet management expects it to exit the year down double digits. That undercuts the claim of a clean, high margin growth engine.

Bear case on demand, governance and execution gains traction

The bear narrative focused on weakening marketplace demand, execution risk and governance concerns, with added worry that AI could erode Fiverr’s lower value workloads. Q2 data backs a good part of that. Management explicitly calls this a multiquarter transition of at least six quarters as AI compresses sub US$1,000 projects. Transaction volumes in that band are down more than 10% year on year and writing and translation is down more than 24%. Active buyers declining 22% while revenue falls 10% signals heavier reliance on a shrinking but higher spending cohort. Guidance for Q3 revenue to decline 18% to 26% year on year and for full year revenue to decline mid teens reinforces concerns about forecast risk raised back in May. The ongoing Pomerantz investigation and a series of insider sales through June 2026 keep governance questions alive even as the balance sheet at US$308.5m of cash and investments remains strong.
