The senators also claimed that approving and using Chinese chips in products would constitute a “national security risk,” and requested Apple to make a clear commitment not to purchase chips from these two companies until August 21. Most of the lawmakers involved in signing this joint letter come from New York State, Indiana, Idaho, etc., and storage giant Micron Technology and South Korea's SK Hynix are investing billions of dollars to expand production capacity in these states. The report said that the influx of memory chips in China could jeopardize these projects.
