At 00:00 on July 31, the Hong Kong Port Area of Huanggang Port was established and governed in accordance with the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The “Huanggang Port Hong Kong Port Area Regulations” came into effect simultaneously. The regulations provide a legal basis for the SAR government to establish the Hong Kong Port Area at Huanggang Port and to exercise jurisdiction in the Hong Kong Port Area in accordance with law. The HKSAR Government has also enacted six subsidiary legislations to facilitate the management of Hong Kong port areas as restricted areas, designated detention facilities, supporting arrangements for traffic and transport management, and the provision of public mobile radio communication services.
