The reporter learned from a press conference held by the National Energy Administration on the 30th that by the end of June, the country had built and put into operation a new energy storage capacity of 153 million kilowatts/396 million kilowatt-hours, an increase of 61% over the previous year. New energy storage has become a key technical equipment to promote large-scale development and consumption of new energy sources, ensure the reliable supply of electricity, and raise the level of safety and stability of power systems. The “China New Energy Storage Development Report” released at the press conference shows that during the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, the installed scale of new energy storage developed rapidly. The installed scale of the country's new energy storage increased from 3 million kilowatts at the beginning of the “14th Five-Year Plan” to 136 million kilowatts, showing an overall trend of doubling year by year. Various technology routes are developing rapidly, gradually forming a development pattern of “lithium-ion battery energy storage dominates and multiple technology routes are implemented together”. Xu Jilin, deputy director of the Energy Conservation and Technology Equipment Department of the National Energy Administration, said that since the “14th Five-Year Plan”, China's new energy storage has achieved leapfrog development from small to large and from weak to strong, creating a typical example of the development of emerging industries and contributing “China's strength” to the global energy transition. “During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the National Energy Administration will actively promote the innovation capabilities of new energy storage technology and the level of industrial development in the world, and promote the high-quality development of new energy storage with greater vigor and more pragmatic measures.” Xu Jilin said.
