The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran issued a statement saying that on Wednesday evening, two tankers, encouraged by the US, tried to sail out of the strait via the “unsafe southern waterway” of the Strait of Hormuz. A fire broke out on the way, then turned back. The statement said, “As long as US officials continue to make excessive demands, make threats, and continue to interfere with maritime shipping activities in the region, the Strait of Hormuz waterway will not be able to resume unobstructed traffic.”
