Shareholders might have noticed that Rexel S.A. (EPA:RXL) filed its half-year result this time last week. The early response was not positive, with shares down 8.6% to €34.93 in the past week. It was an okay report, and revenues came in at €10.0b, approximately in line with analyst estimates leading up to the results announcement. Following the result, the analysts have updated their earnings model, and it would be good to know whether they think there's been a strong change in the company's prospects, or if it's business as usual. With this in mind, we've gathered the latest statutory forecasts to see what the analysts are expecting for next year.
Taking into account the latest results, the consensus forecast from Rexel's twelve analysts is for revenues of €20.5b in 2026. This reflects an okay 4.6% improvement in revenue compared to the last 12 months. Per-share earnings are expected to rise 5.5% to €2.40. In the lead-up to this report, the analysts had been modelling revenues of €20.3b and earnings per share (EPS) of €2.37 in 2026. So it's pretty clear that, although the analysts have updated their estimates, there's been no major change in expectations for the business following the latest results.

The analysts reconfirmed their price target of €41.05, showing that the business is executing well and in line with expectations. It could also be instructive to look at the range of analyst estimates, to evaluate how different the outlier opinions are from the mean. The most optimistic Rexel analyst has a price target of €46.00 per share, while the most pessimistic values it at €30.00. This shows there is still a bit of diversity in estimates, but analysts don't appear to be totally split on the stock as though it might be a success or failure situation.
Looking at the bigger picture now, one of the ways we can make sense of these forecasts is to see how they measure up against both past performance and industry growth estimates. The analysts are definitely expecting Rexel's growth to accelerate, with the forecast 9.3% annualised growth to the end of 2026 ranking favourably alongside historical growth of 5.7% per annum over the past five years. By contrast, our data suggests that other companies (with analyst coverage) in a similar industry are forecast to grow their revenue at 5.4% per year. Factoring in the forecast acceleration in revenue, it's pretty clear that Rexel is expected to grow much faster than its industry.
The most important thing to take away is that there's been no major change in sentiment, with the analysts reconfirming that the business is performing in line with their previous earnings per share estimates. Fortunately, they also reconfirmed their revenue numbers, suggesting that it's tracking in line with expectations. Additionally, our data suggests that revenue is expected to grow faster than the wider industry. There was no real change to the consensus price target, suggesting that the intrinsic value of the business has not undergone any major changes with the latest estimates.
With that said, the long-term trajectory of the company's earnings is a lot more important than next year. We have forecasts for Rexel going out to 2028, and you can see them free on our platform here.
