According to reports, Pakistan's ambassador to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmed, expressed concern over the escalating tension in the Middle East region and urged all parties to “fulfill their promises” and abide by the memorandum of understanding signed last month. He condemned attacks against Saudi Arabia and commercial shipping, and expressed support for Saudi security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He also said that as long as Israel continues to occupy Palestinian territories, “it will still be difficult to achieve lasting peace in the Middle East.”
