01:32 AM EDT, 07/29/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Basilea Pharmaceutica (BSLN.SW) secured $30 million in funding from the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, or BARDA, after achieving a prespecified enrollment milestone for its antifungal fosmanogepix trial. The commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company will use the funding to advance the ongoing late-stage program for fosmanogepix, according to a Wednesday release. The new funding tranche is in addition to the $93 million committed by BARDA, which is part of the US Department of Health and Human Services's Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response. Under the support agreement signed in September 2024, BARDA's financial contribution is 60% of the total costs of the fosmanogepix and BAL2062 projects. The agreement also covers clinical and regulatory activities, which could provide up to $268 million in non-dilutive funding over up to 12 years.
