According to a research report published in Lyon, the MTR's recurrent business profit expectations for the first half of 2026 will remain stable, while basic profits will be supported by property development profits, mainly driven by higher profit divisions brought about by Boao Zhuang III and rising residential property market prices. In terms of recurring business, the number of local passengers increased by 1.2% year-on-year in the first half of the year to 975.4 million, supporting revenue. The bank raised the MTR's basic profit forecast for 2026 by 32% to reflect the strong performance of property development profit expectations in the first half of the year. However, the MTR's dividend forecast for 2026 to 2028 remains unchanged at HK$1.31, and it is believed that there is still a risk of reducing dividends in the future. Lyon slightly raised the MTR target price from HK$32 to HK$33, maintaining the “hold” rating.
