US Permanent Representative to the United Nations Waltz said in an interview with US media on July 26 that US President Trump has suspended military attacks on Iran, “leaving more room for diplomatic negotiations.” Waltz said, “Over the past few weeks, especially in recent days, a number of negotiators from Oman, Iran, and the United States have made contacts at various levels, extending from the highest level to the technical level.” Waltz also said that reports that the US military lacks sufficient firepower and ammunition supplies in the Middle East region are simply “nonsense.” The US media previously reported that the US military is currently “unable to maintain the consumption rate of accurately guided ammunition,” and that related ammunition “is being used faster than the rate of replenishment.”
