Gensho Yoshimatsu said that before he became the prefectural assembly president in June 2020, the Liberal Democratic Party Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly Group asked him for money under various names, including golf expenses, lodging expenses, transportation expenses, and meals at fine restaurants for party social events, totaling about 20 million yen. He also released a recording of Nakao Masayuki, an important member of the Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly, asking him for cash. Nakao Masayuki announced his resignation as a prefectural councilor on the 24th, but denied being involved in the money scandal.
