Kanghong Pharmaceutical (002773.SZ): Hongji Biotech's self-developed AAV gene therapy product KHN921 injection was approved for drug clinical trials

Zhitong Finance App News, Kanghong Pharmaceutical (002773.SZ) issued an announcement. Recently, the company's subsidiary Chengdu Hongji Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Hongji Biotech”) received the “Drug Clinical Trial Approval Notice” issued by the State Drug Administration. The drug is: KHN921 injection.

KHN921 injection is an AAV gene therapy product independently developed by Hongji Biotech to treat hypertrophic cardiomyopathy caused by MYBPC3 mutations. In April 2026, I received an email from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (US Food and Drug Administration) approving KHN921 injections to conduct clinical trials in the US.

The product uses a novel adeno-associated virus with the company's independent intellectual property rights and a cell-specific receptor design as a delivery carrier. It uses an innovative administration method to accurately target myocardial tissue to achieve efficient transduction. This product delivers functional target genes to patients' cardiomyocytes through AAV carriers, corrects functional defects caused by pathogenic gene mutations at the genetic level, improves myocardial structure and function, delays or reverses disease progression, and reduces the risk of serious cardiovascular events.
