According to reports, Dubai Global Ports Group signed a 50-year port franchise agreement with the Fujairah Port Authority on the same day to advance the construction of the Rugherat container port and the Diba-Fujairah port project. Fujairah is located on the east coast of the UAE, bordering the Gulf of Oman. Ships can enter and exit the Indian Ocean without passing through the Strait of Hormuz. According to the plan, the Rugelat container port is designed to have an annual processing capacity of 2.5 million TEUs. After completion, the Diba-Fujairah port project will add 3.6 million tons of general cargo handling capacity per year. The project will be implemented in stages, with an estimated construction period of 24 to 30 months.
