On July 18, it was reported that Apple and the US Department of Justice are in early settlement negotiations on the antitrust lawsuit filed in 2024. The US government sued Apple during Biden's tenure, accusing it of maintaining the advantages of the iPhone ecosystem by limiting the choices of competitors, software developers, and consumers. Apple has submitted plans to the Ministry of Justice to end lawsuits several times this year. Previously, Apple had adjusted its policies in response to some of the accusations, including opening applet functions to developers, supporting the RCS SMS standard promoted by Google, allowing cloud gaming applications, and opening the iPhone payment chip interface. However, Apple still does not allow Apple Watch to be fully compatible with Android devices. In June 2025, Apple applied to dismiss the antitrust lawsuit, but it was not upheld by the court.
