On July 16, the Ministry of Public Security and the State Administration of Cultural Heritage held a meeting in Beijing to deploy relevant local public security authorities and cultural relics departments to further advance the special operation to combat and prevent the cultural relics crime “cloud owl”. According to information, since the launch of the “Cloud Owl” operation on May 15, the public security authorities and cultural relics departments have opened and investigated more than 170 criminal cases involving cultural relics such as excavation, theft, reselling, smuggling, and destruction, arrested more than 390 suspects, and recovered more than 2,700 pieces of material involved, including more than 230 precious cultural relics.
