UK Regulator Extends Deadline to Review Undertakings for Welltower's Completed Purchase of UK Care Homes

07:21 AM EDT, 07/17/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The UK Competition and Markets Authority extended the deadline for deciding whether to accept the undertakings offered for Welltower's completed acquisitions of care homes managed by Barchester Healthcare, HC-One, Aria Care, and Danforth Care. The regulator extended the deadline to Sept. 17 and said Friday that it was not possible to reach a decision by the previous July 21 deadline as the undertakings offered for each merger involve an upfront buyer. The CMA noted that the extensions do not "materially increase" the risk of an anti-competitive outcome, adding that there is "sufficient likelihood" it will be able to accept the undertakings before the extended deadline.
