The Luzhou Intermediate People's Court of Sichuan Province publicly ruled in the first instance in the bribery case of Fan Yi, former party group secretary and director of the Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Statistics. Defendant Fan Yi was sentenced to life imprisonment for bribery, deprivation of political rights for life, and confiscation of all personal property; the property and fruits of Fan Yi's bribery recovered in the case were handed over to the national treasury in accordance with the law. The trial revealed that from 2003 to 2020, defendant Fan Yi used the convenience of his position as Deputy Secretary of the Dujiangyan Municipal Committee of Sichuan Province, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, Pixian County Mayor, Secretary of the Chongzhou Municipal Committee, Director of the Chengdu High-tech Industrial Development Zone Management Committee, and Secretary of the Party Working Committee to help others in matters such as land use rights acquisition, project contracting, and property rights registration. The illegal receipt of property amounted to more than RMB 107 million, some of which had not actually been obtained at the time of the incident.
