According to reports, SoftBank Group plans to issue approximately 60 billion yen bonds to Japanese institutional investors this month. According to information from lead underwriter Daiwa Securities, SoftBank plans to issue about 50 billion yen of 3-year bonds and about 10 billion yen of 5-year bonds in the week of July 27. This new bond issue highlights SoftBank's growing financing needs. SoftBank has raised 678 billion yen by issuing subordinated bonds to retail investors this year, and entered the US and European bond markets for financing in April. Recently, market concerns about the return on investment in artificial intelligence have intensified, dragging down the performance of semiconductor-related stocks, including SoftBank subsidiary Arm. SoftBank shares have retreated from their high in early June after reports suggest that OpenAI's IPO may be postponed. SoftBank has also been considering margin loans using its OpenAI shares as collateral, and has lowered the original planned financing scale from the initial 10 billion US dollars to about 6 billion US dollars.
