According to a report by NBC on July 15, an evaluation data from within the US Department of Defense shows that actual US military spending on Iran may be as high as 100 billion US dollars, far exceeding the 30 billion US dollars previously announced by the US government. The report said that the reason there is such a huge gap between the two is mainly because previous official estimates did not include undisclosed combat expenses, loss of advanced fighter jets, and the cost of serious damage to US military facilities in the Middle East. US Senator Angus King said that the American public was very disappointed that it was impossible to know the actual expenses of the war, “not to mention the additional costs that the war brought to the public in terms of gasoline prices, etc.”
