Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky nominated the head of a state-owned energy company as the next prime minister, underscoring his determination to prepare for the upcoming winter under the threat of continuing Russian attacks. Ukrainian oil and gas company CEO Sergii Koretskyi will succeed Yuliia Svyrydenko as prime minister according to a bill submitted to parliament on Wednesday evening. Parliament approved Koretskyi as the new prime minister on Thursday. The voting results showed that 289 members of parliament voted in favor, 1 voted against, and 7 abstained. Last winter, Ukraine's infrastructure was severely damaged by Russian air strikes, causing power, heating, and water supply to be interrupted in abnormally cold weather. Zelenz announced this personnel adjustment on Sunday and said it was part of a broader “political strategy” reform. In his statement, he emphasized the urgency of preparations for winter.
