We learned from China Southern Power Grid Corporation that in the first half of this year, the electricity consumption of the entire society in the five provinces and regions of Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou and Hainan totaled 901.21 billion kilowatt-hours, up 8.6% year on year, higher than the overall national growth rate of 3.3 percentage points. Electricity consumption in the primary, secondary, and tertiary industries increased simultaneously, reaching 9.4%, 8.8%, 10.7%, and 5.4% respectively. Electricity consumption is a macroeconomic “barometer”. The data shows that in the first half of this year, high-end manufacturing, digital intelligence, and new energy transportation industries boomed in the five southern provinces and regions. The resilience and structure of foreign trade were continuously optimized, and new economic momentum continued to increase. In addition to Guangdong and Hainan, Guangxi, Yunnan, and Guizhou have flourished with local characteristic industries, driving a steady upward trend in regional electricity consumption. In the first half of the year, electricity consumption in Guangxi, Yunnan and Guizhou in China Southern Power Grid's operating areas increased by 10.9%, 7.9%, and 4.3%, respectively.
