S&P Affirms UniCredit Rating, Outlook After Boost in Commerzbank Stake

In a Wednesday note, the rating agency also affirmed its positive outlook on the Italian lender, reflecting its similar outlook on Italy's long-term sovereign rating. S&P said it will raise UniCredit's rating if a similar action is enacted on Italy's rating, but warned that material setbacks in the implementation of plans for Commerzbank could put pressure on UniCredit's stand-alone creditworthiness.
