Starting today, China has officially entered the critical period of “seven down to eight” flood control in 2026. The Ministry of Water Resources held a press conference this morning to introduce this year's flood control situation. Since the flood began this year, a total of 25 numbered floods have occurred in China's major rivers. Over alert floods occurred in 609 rivers. The number was 35% higher than the average for the same period in the past five years. 97 small and medium-sized rivers experienced super-guaranteed water level floods, and 14 rivers experienced the biggest floods since actual measurements were recorded. According to forecasts, during this year's critical flood control period, there will be heavy rainfall in the north and south of our country. Floods are heavier than droughts. Local torrential rains and floods are frequent and repeated. Strong typhoons have moved north to affect the inland, and flood control work is still facing severe tests.
