Britain's “Financial Times” reported on the 13th that due to early stocking up just before the EU ban came into effect, the amount of liquefied natural gas imported by EU countries from Russia's Yamal project in the first half of this year reached a record high. According to statistics from the international market service agency Kepler, from January to June this year, the EU's natural gas imports from Russia's Yamal project reached a record 9.89 million tons, an increase of 18% over the previous year. The total amount paid by the EU for this batch of liquefied natural gas amounts to around 6 billion euros. Among them, France, Belgium and Spain are the main importers, with imports of 3.6 million tons, 2.9 million tons and 2.7 million tons respectively in the first half of 2026. The EU has banned Russian LNG imports under short-term contracts since April, but imports under long-term contracts can continue until January 1, 2027.
