According to a report in the new issue of “Nature” magazine, the engineering team at the University of California San Diego and a team of surgeons completed the world's first test using a remote-controlled humanoid robot to perform real-time clinical surgery. According to the research team, one of the surgeries in this test involved a “human-robot team” composed of a humanoid robot and a human surgeon acting as an assistant to perform gallbladder removal.
