According to the latest quarterly report released by the International Energy Agency, the impact of the war in the Middle East continues to reshape the global gas market pattern. Limited supply and high prices are putting pressure on demand in major markets. Shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz is still far below pre-conflict levels, and there is significant uncertainty about the future direction of trade flows. The decline in liquefied natural gas supply in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates was particularly pronounced, with production falling by almost 80% between March and June compared to the four months of the same period in 2025. Short-term supply disruptions and damage to natural gas infrastructure — including the world's largest liquefied natural gas facility, Qatar's Ras Laffan plant — are expected to delay Qatar's LNG capacity expansion plans.
