On July 11, local time, forest fires broke out in many places along the Adriatic coast in southern Croatia. Among them, Korcula Island was the worst. Flames and heavy smoke spread throughout parts of the island, and large areas of vegetation were affected. At one point, there were signs that the fire was spreading rapidly. According to local sources, the line of fire was over 3 km long and spread to nearby pine forests and vineyards. Affected by the fire, some roads on the island were temporarily closed. The Croatian fire department quickly mobilized forces to carry out the rescue. Currently, three seaplane fire planes have been put in to put out the fire. Firefighters on the island and reinforcements dispatched from mainland China are participating in the ground rescue. Due to the complex topography of the island and the impact of the sea wind, the fire extinguishing work faced great challenges. Meanwhile, fires were also reported in other parts of Croatia on the same day. Wildfires have occurred in coastal areas such as Sibenik-Knin County.
