On July 10, local time, Ryanair Ireland, Europe's largest low-cost airline, said that soon after taking off from Thessaloniki Airport in Greece, one of its airliners had to make an emergency landing due to a “falling off” porthole. According to Greek sources, the aircraft engine parts fell off and smashed a porthole, causing the cabin to lose pressure, and a passenger was partially sucked out of the window. The airline said one passenger received medical assistance but did not specify the cause of the accident. The plane was originally scheduled to fly from Thessaloniki, Greece to Memmingen Airport in Germany. Ryanair said in a statement: “The plane landed normally and the passengers have returned to the terminal.”
