Sun Lei, China's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, spoke at the Security Council public meeting on the Central African Republic on the 23rd, calling for support for the country to consolidate its political achievements. Sun Lei said that China supports President Tuadela of the Central African Republic and the new administration in advancing the governance agenda, appreciates the positive efforts made by the Central African Government to promote national reconciliation and implement the DDR plan, calls on all armed groups to strictly abide by the peace agreement, complete disarmament and demobilization on schedule, and encourages all parties in the Central African Republic to continue to resolve differences, forge consensus, and jointly maintain the hard-won peace situation through inclusive dialogue. Sun Lei said that the security situation between China and Africa is generally stable, but some regions still face risks such as armed attacks, migration conflicts, and the spillover of the conflict in Sudan. China supports the Central African Government, while strengthening military security capabilities, adopting comprehensive measures to ease ethnic conflicts through dialogue and mediation, and expand the scope of national governance and public services. The international community should help the Central African Republic fill the vacuum in local governance, strengthen border control, and enhance its autonomous security capabilities. Sun Lei pointed out that at present, the Central African Republic's economic recovery is slowing down, the development deficit is prominent, and there is a huge gap in humanitarian funding. China calls on all donors to earnestly fulfill their funding commitments to ensure the smooth implementation of humanitarian aid. The international community should help the country improve infrastructure such as transportation and energy, and support the development of agricultural product processing and other characteristic industries. It is necessary to increase support in the fields of education and training, medical care, etc., to help create jobs, improve people's livelihood, enhance endogenous economic motivation, eliminate breeding grounds for violence, and establish a solid foundation for long-term stability. Sun Lei said that as a good friend of the Central African Republic, China firmly supports the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of China and is willing to continue deepening cooperation with China and Africa in various fields to support the early embarking on the path of long-term stability, prosperity and development.
