On June 18, Hengrui Pharmaceutical and Kailera Therapeutics of the United States jointly announced that the phase III clinical trial of the oral small molecule GLP-1 receptor agonist HRS-7535 in 810 adult subjects with type 2 diabetes in China had achieved positive top-line results. The 32-week main endpoint data showed that HbA1c decreased by 1.50% to 1.68% in the HRS-7535 dose group. Based on the positive front-line results of the OUTSTAND-1 and OUTSTAND-2 studies, Hengrui Pharmaceutical plans to submit a marketing application for HRS-7535 for the treatment of type 2 diabetes in China this year; the Chinese phase III clinical trial of HRS-7535 for overweight or obesity indications is ongoing, and relevant data will be disclosed in 2026. Kailera is currently conducting a global phase II clinical trial of KAI-7535 for obesity.
