Before initiating a transfer, please make sure of the following:
Account type matches: The transfer must be initiated from the correct account type (TFSA, RRSP, Margin, or Cash). If the new brokerage initiates it under the wrong account type, the transfer will be rejected.
Your information is up to date: Your name, middle name, last name, date of birth, SIN, and residential address must match exactly between Webull and the other brokerage.
No pending activity: The transfer can't be processed if your account has open trades, open option positions, or pending deposits/withdrawals. Resolve these first to avoid delays or rejection.
Full vs. partial transfer:
If you're transferring most of your holdings, you may need to initiate a full account transfer rather than a partial one. If it appears a small balance was left behind to qualify for the lower partial fee, the transfer may be rejected.
For a partial transfer, your account must retain a minimum assets with a total value greater than the applicable Full Account Transfer Out fee of CAD $150 plus applicable tax (based on your province) after the transfer. If the remaining asset balance would fall below this minimum, the partial transfer will be rejected.
Currency: Make sure the correct currency is selected on the transfer request. Some receiving brokerages are strict about which currencies they'll accept, and a mismatch can cause delays or rejection. This step can be ignored if your receiving institution does not require separate transfers for each currency.
If your account holds both CAD and USD, first submit a partial transfer for your USD holdings, followed by a full transfer for CAD. This order ensures that the CAD $150 + tax fee is applied once the full account is moved.
Transfer out fees:
Full account transfer: $150 + tax
Partial account transfer: $50 + tax
It is recommended to keep enough balance in your account to cover this fee. If you don't have the funds available, the fee will be charged as a debit balance to your new brokerage. This requires their cooperation, as they must agree to accept the debit balance transfer.
Timeline: Once the transfer is initiated from your new brokerage, expect up to 5 business days for our team to receive the request and another 10 business days for the transfer to be pushed out from our end.
