A federal judge sided with 20 Democratic states on Friday local time and stopped one of the Trump administration's actions. The initiative sought to force states to meet a number of conditions in order to receive multi-billion dollars in supplementary nutrition assistance program funding. US District Judge Myong Joun issued an interim injunction in this lawsuit against additional conditions for food stamp funds. Additional conditions relate to restrictions such as “gender concepts”, “immigration policies”, and guarantees equal “opportunities for sporting events” for women and girls. The judge said that a memorandum explaining the reasons for the ruling will be issued later. The states claimed in the lawsuit that the US Department of Agriculture has set up a number of unconstitutional and illegal barriers to sever the links between welfare programs established by Congress and the states that rely on them, and endanger important nutritional benefits, agricultural research work, and the safety of the national food supply chain and community.
