Benefiting from the sharp rise in chip prices brought about by the artificial intelligence boom, Samsung Electronics expects operating profit to increase sixfold in January-March, setting a quarterly record, which is only slightly lower than the operating profit for the whole of last year. According to conclusions drawn by LSEG SmartEstimate from 29 analysts, Samsung is expected to achieve a profit of 40.5 trillion won this Tuesday, with revenue growth of 50%, driven by the so-called “unprecedented supercycle” of memory chips. In comparison, the world's largest memory chip maker had an operating profit of 43.6 trillion won last year. Some analysts are even more optimistic about the company, such as Citibank, which predicts that its operating profit will reach 51 trillion won. “There's nothing better,” said Gao Yingmin, an analyst at Daol Investment & Securities, when talking about the strength of the memory chip market.
