BP to Shut Gas Infrastructure at Central Azeri Platform in Azerbaijan for August Maintenance

12:06 AM EST, 03/08/2026 (MT Newswires) -- BP (BP.L) will shut down gas operations at Azerbaijan's Central Azeri platform in August for scheduled maintenance, Reuters reported March 6, citing Giovanni Cristofoli, the company's regional president for Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey. The British energy group's oil production, however, will continue at the site during the 11-day closure. BP, the largest foreign investor in Azerbaijan's oil and gas sector, is also negotiating with Azerbaijani state oil company Socar about cooperating on the hydrocarbon exploration project Ustyurt in Uzbekistan, said Cristofoli. BP did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
