Insiders who bought Adavale Resources Limited (ASX:ADD) stock in the last 12 months were richly rewarded last week. The company's market value increased by AU$1.3m as a result of the stock's 11% gain over the same period. As a result, the stock they originally bought for AU$268.0k is now worth AU$526.4k.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

Adavale Resources Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when CEO & Executive Chairman Allan Ritchie bought AU$90k worth of shares at a price of AU$0.021 per share. We do like to see buying, but this purchase was made at well below the current price of AU$0.052. While it does suggest insiders consider the stock undervalued at lower prices, this transaction doesn't tell us much about what they think of current prices.

While Adavale Resources insiders bought shares during the last year, they didn't sell. They paid about AU$0.026 on average. To my mind it is good that insiders have invested their own money in the company. However, you should keep in mind that they bought when the share price was meaningfully below today's levels. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. By clicking on the graph below, you can see the precise details of each insider transaction!

Does Adavale Resources Boast High Insider Ownership?

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. It appears that Adavale Resources insiders own 29% of the company, worth about AU$4.1m. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.
