03:57 AM EST, 01/07/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Bia Tosha Distributors, a distributor of Diageo's (DGE.L) Kenyan subsidiary, requested the High Court to halt the British alcoholic beverage company's sale of its stakes in two local subsidiaries until an earlier case is resolved, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing court filings. Diageo is selling its entire stake in East African Breweries and its holdings in UDV Kenya to Japanese beverage company Asahi Group Holdings for $2.3 billion. Bia Tosha claimed that if the proposed sale proceeds, it will not be able to obtain a "judgment against Diageo" in its 2016 court case against Diageo, East African Breweries, and UDV Kenya. Bia Tosha counsel noted that the court agreed with the company and fast-tracked the case. The court will hear the case on Friday. Diageo did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
