After America captured Nicolas Maduro from Venezuela, Chevron was bound to plan a new route and stick to its position in some of the world's richest oil fields. The oil giant has been trying to cope with the country's political and economic turmoil for years, while its rivals have either withdrawn from the country or been driven out by Venezuelan leaders. Chevron said in a statement last Saturday that the company is focused on employee safety and asset integrity in Venezuela. The opportunities are huge. The Venezuelan government says it has proven oil reserves of more than 300 billion barrels; if true, its reserves would rank first in the world. Analysts said that with the exception of Chevron, other large oil companies interested in returning to Venezuela will almost certainly take the time to assess the situation.
