Colombian President Gustavo Petro said that Colombia is preparing for a possible large-scale influx of Venezuelan refugees. Petro wrote on social platforms: “We have just finished the National Security Council meeting that began at 3 a.m. “Public safety forces are being deployed in border areas while harnessing all the humanitarian and support resources at our disposal to deal with possible large-scale refugee flows.” He also pointed out that the Colombian Embassy in Venezuela has switched to a working model of receiving requests for help from Colombian citizens. Furthermore, Colombia will promote discussions on the relevant situation in the UN Security Council and advocate a peaceful solution through dialogue.
