Haikou Customs disclosed on the 2nd that on the first day of the New Year's Day holiday, the outlying islands of Hainan sold 148,000 items duty-free, an increase of 30%; the number of shoppers was 32,000, an increase of 45.8%; and the shopping amount was 251 million yuan, an increase of 93.8% over the previous year.
