US President Donald Trump and senior White House officials claimed that due to their tightening immigration policies, American workers have enjoyed employment dividends, but neither official data nor economists' analysis can confirm this statement. Beginning in the summer of 2025, the Trump administration has been touting the “surge in labor jobs in the US.” In his recent prime time address to the nation, Trump also used this to calm public concerns about the economy and reiterated this statement. “The year before I was elected, the net increase in all new jobs went to foreign immigrants; after I took office, 100% of the net job growth was owned by American citizens, a full 100%.” Trump administration officials also recently said that more than 2.5 million immigrants will withdraw from the US labor market in 2025.
