01:30 AM EST, 01/02/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Revolution Wind, a 50/50 joint venture between wind power company Ørsted (ORSTED.CO) and Global Infrastructure Partners' Skyborn Renewables, took legal action against a lease suspension imposed by the US Department of the Interior's Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, saying the order threatens a nearly completed offshore wind project. The joint venture filed a supplemental complaint in the US District Court for the District of Columbia and plans to seek a preliminary injunction against the suspension, which was issued on Dec. 22, 2025, according to a Friday release. Revolution Wind believes that the suspension is unlawful and is pursuing litigation to protect the project's rights. The project, located off the coast of Rhode Island, secured all required federal and state permits in 2023 and is now 87% complete. Additionally, Ørsted said its Sunrise Wind project, which also received a lease suspension order on Dec. 22, 2025, continues to assess its options, including potential legal action.
