According to a recent poll by the non-profit organization West Health-Gallup Center on Healthcare, up to 29% of respondents viewed “medical costs” as the most serious problem in the current US healthcare system. This figure is one of the highest records since the survey began in 1987. The proportion of people satisfied with medical costs simultaneously fell to an all-time low of only 16%. West Health President Timothy Lash stressed that at present, public concerns about the affordability of medical care have reached a historic peak. This is not only an abstract policy dispute, but also directly empties people's wallets and harms their health, forcing many people to abandon necessary treatment.
