According to news from Japan's Kyodo News Agency on December 31, the Japan-China Economic Association, the Japan Federation of Business Organizations, and the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced on the same day that a Japanese business delegation led by the three groups will postpone their visit to China. The delegation originally planned to visit China in January 2026. The report said that the Japanese delegation to China proposed a meeting with senior Chinese officials, but no clear response was received. Media such as Bloomberg and Japan's “Sankei Shimbun” quoted various sources to confirm the news. The secretariat of the Japanese delegation to China explained, “Given the current difficulties in exchanges with China, we believe that even if a delegation is sent, we will not be able to achieve substantial results.” Kyodo News said that after postponing the visit, it is currently uncertain when the Japanese side will be able to send a delegation again. Nihon Keizai Shimbun mentioned that Japanese business leaders began visiting China in 1975. They usually visit once a year, with the exception of trips cancelled due to COVID-19. This is the first time since 2012 that Japanese business leaders have postponed their visit to China.
