In 2026, the “two new” automobile subsidy policy was officially implemented. On December 30, 2025, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Finance issued the “Notice on Implementing Large-scale Equipment Renewal and Consumer Goods Trade-In Policies in 2026”, which will continue to support automobile scrapping renewal and automobile replacement renewal. Compared with the previous policy, there have been changes in the subsidy method. The new policy implements uniform standards throughout the country, adjusts fixed subsidies to subsidies in proportion to the vehicle price, while the upper limit of automobile subsidies remains unchanged. Specifically, the notice shows that in terms of vehicle scrapping and renewal, individual consumers who buy a new energy passenger car after scrapping a passenger car under their own name can receive a 12% subsidy of the new vehicle price, up to a maximum of 20,000 yuan; consumers who buy fuel vehicles with a displacement of 2.0L or less can receive a 10% subsidy of the price of the new vehicle purchased, up to a maximum of 15,000 yuan. In terms of car replacement and renewal, individual consumers transfer passenger cars registered under their own name and purchased 8% of the subsidized vehicle price for new energy passenger cars, up to a maximum of 15,000 yuan; 6% of the subsidized vehicle price when purchasing passenger cars with fuel emissions of 2.0 liters or less, up to a maximum of 13,000 yuan. According to standard calculations, the price of a new energy vehicle is more than 166,700 yuan, and the price of a fuel vehicle is more than 150,000 yuan, which can be fully covered by the scrapping and renewal subsidy. The price of a new energy vehicle is 187,500 yuan, and the price of a fuel vehicle is 216,700 yuan, which can be fully covered by replacement and renewal subsidies.
