The Zhitong Finance App learned that on Tuesday, the reporter quoted people familiar with the matter as saying that the SoftBank Group has completed a total investment commitment of 40 billion US dollars in OpenAI. According to the news, SoftBank paid the final amount of about 22 billion to 22.5 billion US dollars to the artificial intelligence startup last week.

Previously, SoftBank had invested $10 billion through joint investment and directly invested $8 billion in the ChatGPT developer. So far, SoftBank's overall investment arrangements for OpenAI have been implemented.

The media reported in February this year that SoftBank is finalizing a $40 billion investment plan for the startup led by Sam Altman with a pre-investment valuation of about 260 billion US dollars. People familiar with the matter said at the time that the relevant funds would be paid in 12 to 24 monthly installments.

Additionally, part of the funding will be used to support OpenAI's layout in terms of artificial intelligence infrastructure, including its “Stargate” (Stargate) joint venture with Oracle (ORCL.US) and SoftBank. The project is seen as an important infrastructure investment for OpenAI to expand computing power and data center capabilities and support large-scale model training and deployment.
