Awantec unit bags two contracts to supply AI tools to public unis worth a combined RM16.41mil.

KUALA LUMPUR: AwanBiru Technology Bhd's wholly-owned subsidiary, Awantec Systems Sdn Bhd (ASSB), has been awarded two letters of award valued at a combined RM16.41mil by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) for the provision of Google artificial intelligence (AI) tools, NotebookLM Enterprise and Gemini for Google Workspace to public universities.

It said in a bourse filing a contract for the provision of AI tools for students is valued at RM10.62mil, while a second contract for the provision of AI tools for lecturers and administrators was worth RM5.8mil.

Both contracts have a tenure of 13 months from Jan 1, 2026, to Jan 31, 2027.

"The deployment of these AI tools is designed to augment public universities' existing Google Workspace for Education ecosystem by integrating advanced AI-driven learning and productivity features. 

"This initiative supports MOHE’s strategic digital transformation, specifically aimed at elevating teaching and learning outcomes and academic research productivity. By equipping students, lecturers, and administrators with personal AI assistance, this partnership seeks to cultivate a future-ready workforce capable of navigating an AI-centric global economy," said the group.
